In the quiet town of Marshall, Missouri, a burst of violence shattered the autumn calm on October 3, 2019, leading to the tragic death of 52-year-old Calvin Bosley. The day's events unfolded with a grim sequence of two related shootings. The first incident, which occurred on South Olson Avenue, left three individuals with gunshot wounds. Two of these victims were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia for urgent medical care.
Approximately an hour after the initial attack, a second
shooting was reported on West Vest Street. This string of violent acts ultimately involved four victims, with Bosley being the sole fatality. The news of the shootings sent a wave of fear through the community, resulting in a citywide lockdown as law enforcement began their investigation.
Authorities quickly identified a person of interest: 41-year-old Terrelle Palmer. Described as being six feet tall and weighing 170 pounds, Palmer became the subject of a widespread manhunt. His prior criminal record included convictions for drugs, assault, stealing, and resisting arrest. The search for Palmer extended beyond Missouri, and he was eventually apprehended in Mississippi on October 18, 2019.
Following his capture, Palmer faced a series of serious charges in connection with the shootings. These included first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault or attempt, first-degree burglary, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of armed criminal action. He was held in custody without bond awaiting trial.
In a bench trial that concluded on February 2, 2023, Terrelle Palmer was found guilty of second-degree murder for the death of Calvin Bosley. The court also convicted him on two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful possession of a firearm. On March 13, 2023, Palmer was sentenced to life in prison for the murder conviction, in addition to significant sentences for the other charges.
