On a cold March evening in 2011, the lives of two teenagers were tragically cut short in a burst of violence on the west side of Indianapolis. John Williams, a 19-year-old male, and his friend, 16-year-old Charles E. Ray Jr., were found shot to death inside a vehicle in an alley near the 1200 block of Medford Avenue. The discovery, made on March 7, 2011, marked the beginning of a long and frustrating road for investigators and the families of the two young men.
