Has anyone else looked into the psychological impact on the Witte brothers after everything they went through? I can't imagine how traumatic it must have been for Eric and John, being manipulated into such horrific actions by their own mother. The layers of trust, family, and control in this case are just astounding. It's upsetting to think about what they must have experienced psychologically and emotionally, both during the time of the crimes and afterwards. I'm curious if there were any interviews or reports on how they coped or sought therapy in the years following these events. Would love to hear thoughts or insights from anyone who's come across more info about their lives post-trial.

Has anyone else been struck by the chilling level of control Hilma Witte seemed to have over her family? It’s really unsettling to think how she managed to manipulate her sons into committing such horrific acts. I keep coming back to how vulnerable Eric and John must have been, feeling trapped in their own home and pushed to do things that no kid should ever have to contemplate. It's so sad to think about the lost potential of these boys, and how easily their lives took such a dark path under Hilma's influence. I can't imagine the emotional and psychological toll this took on them, not to mention the impact on other family members and friends who had to process that this wasn't just a simple tragic accident. Does anyone know if there were any signs or red flags before things took such a terrible turn? It makes you wonder how many layers of this kind of manipulation went unnoticed. Thoughts?
