I've been thinking a lot about the absence of bulletproof vests during the tragic incident involving Sergeant Bryan Glenn Northern and Colonel Robert Black. It's a painful reminder of how crucial protective gear is for our officers, especially when responding to unpredictable situations. It's hard to believe that a piece of equipment could have made such a difference. My thoughts go out to the families of both officers who have been through unimaginable pain. I hope their sacrifice leads to more robust measures to protect officers in the future. They both deserved to come home that night.
