I've been following Bernard B. Cockerham's case closely, and I'm puzzled by the lack of forensic evidence despite the nature of the crime. With signs of forced entry, one would think there might be fingerprints or some kind of DNA evidence left behind. Elkhart was a relatively small community, and it feels significant that no significant forensic breakthroughs have been reported. I wonder if advancements in DNA technology since 2001 might offer some hope to revisit the evidence collected at the time. My thoughts are with Bernard's family–waiting all these years without answers must be incredibly difficult.

Has anyone else come across any information about the state of Bernard's front door when his body was found? I've been trying to piece together what happened, and the fact that there were signs of forced entry has always struck me as incredibly bold. Given that it happened early in the morning, you'd think someone in the neighborhood might have heard something unusual. I feel for Bernard's family – it's been over two decades, and they still don't have answers. It must be exhausting to keep hoping for a breakthrough. Have there been any recent initiatives in Elkhart to help families like Bernard's? It seems like the community would rally around them if given the opportunity.
