I was reading some news articles about Steven Caldwell and Cardell Hoston, and I can't imagine what their families must be going through. It’s so sad to think about their loved ones getting the call and hearing the worst news possible. What's been bothering me though, is how such a tragedy could happen in a neighborhood where people should feel safe in their homes. Some residents mentioned they initially thought the gunshots were fireworks. It just makes me think about how often we dismiss things like that, not realizing something horrible is actually taking place. Steven had his troubles, like many people do, but he didn’t deserve to die like this. I hope the community can find some peace and that the truth about what happened will eventually come out. Anyone else have thoughts on how safety in neighborhoods has changed over the years?
