I’ve been following Eric Mathis's case since it first came to light, and something that really concerns me is the role of the property management company in all of this. It's distressing to think that the Mt. Helix Real Estate Investment Fund had been repeatedly warned about the state of their properties but still failed to act adequately. This tragic incident could have potentially been avoided if the house on Wallace Avenue had been properly secured. The fact that Joe Nelson, the chief executive, claimed the property wasn't abandoned feels quite disingenuous, especially when such catastrophic failures in security can lead to fatal consequences, as seen with Eric's death. It’s essential for companies to be vigilant and accountable for their properties, especially in areas struggling with crime. It's heart-wrenching to think that a simple lack of responsibility from a company could lead to such a tragic outcome. My thoughts and compassion go out to Eric’s family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time. I really hope that the authorities are able to unravel the mystery of what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
