Reading about Curtis Frazier Jr.'s tragic loss is incredibly difficult, especially knowing he was so young, with so much ahead of him. I can't stop thinking about what an immense loss this is for his family and friends, and how it all stemmed from a situation that spiraled so horribly. What hits hard is how quickly life can change due to one impulsive decision. Curtis was trying to navigate his teenage years, just like any other high schooler. It's awful that he's no longer with us due to circumstances that got out of control. Thinking about the broader community in South Bend, it's so important that we work towards providing support for young people, showing them that violence isn't the answer. Curtis deserved a future where he could pursue his interests and continue being that loving and outgoing person everyone knew him to be. My heart goes out to his loved ones, who must be enduring such a difficult time. I hope they find some strength and that more transparency about the incident helps them in their healing journey. This situation really underlines the importance of nurturing safe spaces for our youth and addressing the root causes that lead to these tragedies.
