Has anyone else been following the trial of Gary Jackson Jr. for the murder of Joan Darlene Berry? I can't stop thinking about how surreal it must have been for her family to watch the footage from that night, knowing those were some of her last moments. It’s gut-wrenching to imagine the pain they’ve endured throughout this process. The detail that sticks with me is how the car ran over her arm and leg as it sped away. It seems so cruel and calculated. Joan was left so vulnerable and alone outside that hospital. I wonder why she was with him in the first place and what their relationship truly was. Was this just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was there more to their interaction that night? It's hard to piece everything together without being privy to all the details, but I hope the resolution of the trial has given her loved ones some sense of peace. My thoughts are with her family and friends as they continue to grapple with such an immense loss.

Hey everyone, I find the events leading up to Joan Darlene Berry's death particularly haunting. I keep thinking about the surveillance footage outside Riley Hospital. It's unsettling to imagine such a place of hope and care witnessing such a tragic moment. It must be incredibly tough for the staff and patients who were there that evening—how do you process witnessing something like that while you're just trying to do your job or get care? Gary Jackson Jr.'s actions seem utterly incomprehensible, and his attempt to explain it away because of PCP use is frustratingly weak. We’ve seen cases before where defendants try to blame their actions on substance abuse, but it doesn’t change the irreversible damage done. Joan deserved so much better than to be treated like this and then left in such a desperate state. For her friends and family, I hope there’s some comfort in knowing that justice was served, even if it can't replace the loss they’ve suffered. Sending thoughts to all who continue to be affected.
