I keep coming back to the fact that Robert had a flight lesson scheduled for later that day, and he didn’t cancel it. From what I’ve read, he was known for being incredibly reliable, especially when it came to aviation. It just doesn’t sit right with me. For someone with his background, it feels incredibly out of character to fly into Mexican airspace without the proper documentation.
I've also been digging into Stamaria True Crime Podcast’s recent episode on this, where they speculated that maybe Robert was somehow coerced into the flight. Considering that Lonnie D. Shaw had a history of mental health issues, I wonder if there was some sort of compelling reason Robert felt he couldn't refuse the flight, even at the expense of his usual diligence.
What do you guys think? Could there have been some kind of pressure or threat that forced Robert's hand in this situation? Or maybe something else entirely? Would love to hear any theories or insights you all might have!
I've been following the Robert Douglas Sparks case and something that really puzzles me is the choice of destination. If Sparks intended to head to Tampico, but didn't have the right documentation to enter Mexico, why did he communicate that as his destination to the FAA? It makes me wonder if there might have been some pressure or possibly coercion from Lonnie D. Shaw. Given Shaw's history of mental health issues, could there have been some sort of distress or confusion that led to their disappearance? It's intriguing, yet tragic, how a deviation in plans might have played such a significant role. If anyone has insight or theories, I'd love to hear them. The more angles we look at, the better chance we have at piecing something together.
