Does anyone have more info about the search efforts conducted back in '74 for Wesley on Tustumena Lake? I read that search and rescue teams went out, but didn't find much. I'm curious about the technology they had back then for ice rescues and if it was a difficult terrain to search. Also, were there follow-up searches in the years since, or was it a one-time effort? It's such a remote area, so I can't imagine how challenging it must have been. Wondering if the community came together to help out in any way. Any insight would be appreciated!

I've been digging into Wesley's disappearance at Tustumena Lake and can't shake the feeling that there's more to this story that's been overlooked. I understand he was presumed to have drowned after going through the ice, but has anyone looked into whether the ice conditions were unusual that day? Were there any other reported incidents around the same time at the lake? It would be interesting to compare if there were similar accidents or if his was an isolated case. Could local weather reports from that time give us any clues, like unexpected warm spells that might have weakened the ice? Just trying to piece together anything that might shed new light. Any thoughts on other ways to investigate?
