I’ve been diving into Michael’s case and stumbled upon an old weather report from August 1979. It confirms that there were unexpected storms around the time he went missing. This makes me wonder if he might have sought shelter on a different island or cove, hoping to wait out the bad weather. The overturned canoe might suggest he got back on the water when he thought it was safe, but maybe he wasn’t able to make it far. Does anyone know if there were any search efforts on nearby, less accessible islands or coves after his disappearance? It just seems like the focus was too narrow on Entrance Island alone.
Has anyone looked into weather reports for the region around the time Michael went missing? Just thinking about how unpredictable conditions can be out there, especially around Glacier Bay. It's remote and can turn dangerous quick if a storm rolled in. His gear washing up on Entrance Island might suggest something sudden caught him off guard. Does anyone have any info on whether there was a storm or rough water reported around 08/09/1979? It could help piece together what might have happened to him.
