Has anyone else thought about how intense the political environment must have been at that gathering in Coeburn? It’s so saddening to think about the chaos and emotions that were likely running high. I can only imagine the shock of those present, especially considering how rare such violence would have been at that time. Everyone there probably felt the weight of the situation immediately after the shot rang out. Putting myself in the shoes of Policeman Flanary’s family, it must have been incredibly difficult to process the loss of someone they loved, due to an incident that arose from a dispute that had nothing to do with him. It's reassuring to see that the community came together during such a tough time, but it doesn’t take away the pain for Flanary's family and friends. Receiving such tragic news must have been devastating, and it serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and how fragile it can be.
