I can't imagine the pain and loss that Officer Campbell's family endured, especially considering the time it took to capture his killer. The fact that this suspect evaded arrest for six years and continued his criminal activities is infuriating. It's a stark reminder of the challenges law enforcement faced in the early 1900s without the technology and resources officers have today. I think about the officers who finally captured this criminal in Oklahoma; it must have been a tough job knowing that they'd brought some justice to William's family, even if it was overdue. It’s unfortunate that the perpetrator received a sentence of only seven years for taking a life, seemingly going on to commit more heinous acts. Officer Campbell is still seen as a symbol of bravery and dedication, and his legacy continues to resonate through the department and the community he served. My thoughts are with his descendants and all those who remember him.
