I'm really intrigued by how the small community of Millboro---Nimrod handled the aftermath of this tragic event. It's not often we hear about duels in the 1930s, and it must have been incredibly shocking for everyone in town. I can't help but wonder how the families of Bernard Shiflett and Manuel Morris coped with their sudden and violent losses. Did they manage to find any peace after the inquest? Also, what about the community's response? How did they come together to support each other after such a frightening event? It seems crucial for a tight-knit place like Millboro---Nimrod to find ways to heal after such a tragedy.
Has anyone else been following the case of Bernard Shiflett and Manuel Morris? I recently came across details of the tragic duel that happened in Millboro---Nimrod, Virginia, and it's had me thinking about how personal conflicts can escalate to such unfortunate endings. What's really been on my mind is how the families of Shiflett and Morris must have felt after losing their loved ones this way. I can’t imagine the overwhelming grief and confusion they must have experienced, especially with no clear explanation on why things got so out of hand between the two men.
Has anyone come across more information about the personal conflict between them? I read that the inquest provided a lot of details about the duel itself, but I'm curious about what might have led up to it. It's such a sad situation, and I think the more we can understand about these kinds of conflicts, the better we can hopefully prevent similar tragedies in the future. Any insights or additional information would be appreciated!
