I wanted to bring up something that I stumbled across while looking into Detective Conrad Birney’s murder case. Has anyone else noticed that during the trial, much emphasis was placed on the fast apprehension of the suspects? The coordination between different units of the Alexandria PD must have been impressive. It’s sad that this was only necessary because of such a senseless act, but it’s good to know the community rallied for justice so quickly. Can’t help but think about how this might have offered a sliver of comfort to Detective Birney’s family, knowing that there was an immediate response and that the perpetrators were caught without delay. Every officer risks their life daily, and seeing how they have each other’s backs in these times is somewhat reassuring. Would love to hear more insights from anyone with additional details or personal thoughts on the trial proceedings and the community response.
