Hey everyone, I've been following Curtis Thorne's case with a heavy heart, and something that really stood out to me was the role that his environment played in his tragic end. Growing up in areas where drug operations like the one led by Roane, Johnson, and Tipton are prevalent makes it difficult for young people to avoid getting caught up in that life. It makes you think about how much of a choice Thorne really had, or if he felt he had no other way out. What struck me was how deeply entrenched this operation was, stretching from New Jersey to Richmond. I keep thinking about the neighborhood communities that were left to deal with the fear and violence this conspiracy brought upon them. The social fabric of those communities must have been severely tested, and it’s just so unfair to everyone trying to live a decent life there. For Curtis's family and anyone else who cared about him, this series of events has undoubtedly left long-lasting scars. I truly hope there’s something to be learned here about prevention and intervention to stop such tragedies from becoming someone else's reality. What are your thoughts? Do you think there's more that could have been done to prevent young men like Curtis from getting roped into such dangerous lifestyles? Sending thoughts and love to those affected. ?
