I’ve been following Trooper Cavazos’ case closely and something that really stuck with me was the naming of the overpass in his honor. It’s such a poignant tribute and serves as a reminder of his dedication and sacrifice every time someone drives by. I just think about his family and how difficult it must be to have a loved one memorialized in such a way, where they are continually reminded of their loss, yet also seeing the impact and respect he garnered through his service. I wonder if there are more ways his legacy can be carried forward, perhaps in the form of a scholarship for law enforcement or a community safety program. It seems like it could be a meaningful way to continue his commitment to public service and also offer something positive back to the community he served so diligently. Thoughts and condolences go out to everyone who knew him—his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Hey everyone, I'm sure many of you have already discussed various aspects of the tragic death of Trooper José M. Cavazos, but I wanted to talk about the impact on his family and the community since his passing. It's unimaginable what his loved ones went through — losing someone in such a senseless and violent manner must have been devastating. I read that he left behind a wife and two kids, which makes it even tougher to think about. The fact that the Dale City interchange overpass was named in his honor is a powerful tribute. It's more than just a sign; it's a reminder of his dedication and the ultimate sacrifice he made. I drive by there sometimes, and it always makes me pause and think about the dangers that officers face every day. Has anyone else visited that site, and if so, how did it make you feel? I hope his family finds some comfort in knowing that his service and legacy continue to be appreciated and remembered by so many, even decades later. Thinking of his family today.❤️
