I’ve been following the tragic events surrounding Cindy LaPrade and the others who lost their lives that day, and something that sticks with me is the difficult position of the community after such a huge loss. With Robert May living right next door, it’s unsettling to think how someone could harbor such violence so close to home without anyone realizing the danger. I can’t imagine the fear and distrust this must have left among neighbors in Roanoke. It makes me wonder how the community has managed to heal and whether people still feel safe in their own homes. My heart goes out to the families and friends who continue to deal with the aftermath of this senseless act. The thought that this horror erupted on a holiday meant for celebration and new beginnings only adds to the sorrow. Let's keep their memories alive by supporting one another and advocating for safer communities.

I've been thinking about the night of January 1, 1995, and something that stands out to me is the relationship between Cindy LaPrade and her roommates, Daniel Mason and Carl Stroop. Living with roommates can create a sense of camaraderie and trust, especially around the holidays when people gather to celebrate. I can only imagine how close Cindy, Daniel, and Carl must have been, sharing not just a living space, but also their lives with each other. It's devastating to think that such a familiar and safe environment turned into a scene of horror. Cindy and her roommates were probably looking forward to starting the New Year with joy, and instead, their celebrations took a tragic turn. My heart genuinely goes out to their families and friends who are left to grapple with the loss of loved ones under such shocking circumstances. This case makes you think about how quickly things can change and how violence can strike anywhere, even in places we consider our safe havens. It's a chilling reminder to cherish the moments we have with those around us and to support each other in times of uncertainty and fear.
