Was anyone else struck by how quickly the investigation into Joe Turner's death seemed to lose momentum? It’s so frustrating to think about how many cases like his in Chicago just go cold because people are too scared to come forward. I get it—nobody wants to put themselves or their families at risk. But what kind of justice can be expected when fear keeps voices silent? Turner's life was cut short, and his family must still be seeking answers. It's a grim reminder of how deeply rooted issues like poverty and gang activity can ripple through a city and affect countless lives. It just feels like there's a whole system that's failing people like Joe. We talk a lot about escalating violence, but I hope we can also focus on how to fix these systemic problems, so there aren’t more victims like him. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him and all families who’ve suffered because of this pervasive violence.
