Has anyone here been following the discussions about mental health reform that sparked after the Virginia Tech tragedy? I can’t help but think about Lauren Ashley McCain and how she was just a brilliant young woman who had so much to offer. From what I’ve read, she was such a positive soul, deeply involved in her faith and community. It’s so hard not to imagine how things might have been different if there had been more support available for individuals displaying signs of distress like Cho did. The entire situation really brought attention to the gaps in handling mental health issues, especially in educational institutions. Do you all think the changes implemented post-incident, like improving access to mental health resources on campuses, have made a real difference? I hope something positive can come out of such an immense loss and that those measures truly honor the memory of people like Lauren by keeping other students safe. Would love to hear your thoughts.
