Hey everyone, I’ve been digging into the mysterious disappearance of Derik Reid, the 1-year-old who went missing in 1983, and I stumbled upon something that’s been tugging at my curiosity. I read that there were reports about the area around Randall Island being kind of sketchy back then. Plus, some old articles hinted that the local environment wasn't the safest for little kids, with lots of open, unsecured spaces and water hazards. Has anyone ever looked deeper into how the area's safety standards during that period might have impacted the search or even contributed to what could have happened? I mean, it’s weird how little info has come out over the years. I’m just thinking maybe there’s room to explore how environmental factors of the time have been overlooked or could have even hindered the initial investigation.
