I came across Kenji Moses' case while reading about the violence in Chicago during the late 2000s, and it's just so devastating to realize how he was one of many caught in a tragic cycle. One aspect that stands out to me is how deeply this period of violence must have impacted entire communities and families. I can't imagine the pain that Kenji’s family and friends endured, losing someone they loved to such senseless violence. It's frustrating how the efforts to curb this kind of violence, though well-intended, often fell short back then. It makes me wonder what more could have been done and if things are improving now. For those who lived in Chicago during this time, how did these events shape your view of community safety and police efforts? And to those who knew Kenji, my heart goes out to you. His story, like so many others, deserves to be remembered and learned from.
