Does anyone here have insight on the specific hunter education course requirements in Virginia? I've been reading about the tragic case of Sansford Ray Semones, and it made me wonder about the training young hunters receive. I know both Sansford and his son had completed these courses, but I can't help but think about how confusing and terrifying it must have been for that poor kid in the moment. I imagine he feels a tremendous amount of guilt, despite it being a tragic accident. I wonder if the courses emphasize the importance of visual confirmation before taking a shot, especially in more densely wooded areas. My thoughts go out to the Semones family. I can't imagine the pain they're enduring, and I hope they find a way to heal.
