I've been following this incredibly tragic case of Karen Swanson Yee and her husband, Dr. Kim Yee, with such a heavy heart. Something that really stands out to me is the community's immense respect for Karen and how so many considered her a pillar of strength and compassion, especially through her work with the Danville Humane Society. It's just so hard to wrap my head around how someone as valued and loved as Karen could be involved in such a painful situation. Everyone seemed to think the couple had a strong marriage, making this even more difficult to understand. My thoughts keep returning to how we sometimes never truly know what's happening behind closed doors, even in what looks like a loving relationship. Sending all my thoughts to Karen’s family and the community trying to process this loss. It reminds me of how important it is to check in on one another, even those who seem to have it all together. If anyone's from the area or knows more about the Humane Society initiatives she was involved in, please share. It might be a small way we can honor her legacy.
