Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the community that Richard Orebaugh was such a big part of and how tough this must be for them. It's always a shock when something so awful happens to someone who's served their country and community the way he did. He gave so much to the people around him—twenty years in the Air Force and then with VDOT. It's clear he was a man who believed in service and commitment.
What I'm really curious about is how his church community at Mt. Pisgah is coping. He was a longstanding member and must have had close ties there. I'm sure they're reeling from this loss. Has anyone heard about any gatherings or memorials held by the church? I hope they're finding ways to support each other through this. It's just so terrible that such an upstanding person was taken in such a senseless manner.
Sending strength to all who knew Richard. ?
I've been thinking a lot about Richard Eugene Orebaugh and his love for restoring classic cars. It's such a beautiful hobby that requires patience, skill, and dedication—qualities that seem to reflect the kind of person he was. It's heart-wrenching to imagine that something he may have looked forward to and enjoyed could have been overshadowed by such a tragic event. His community must miss seeing him around, tinkering with those old cars, especially being such a staple at local gatherings. I hope they find comfort in the memories of his joy and passion, and that maybe his legacy inspires someone else to pick up the wrench and continue where he left off. Sending love to his family and friends as they navigate this difficult time.
