Does anyone else find it odd how authorities never seemed to connect the dots earlier with Susan Baker's past behavior? The fact that she physically abused Paul's sister and then later got caught hiding a baby under her bed is beyond chilling. It feels like there should have been more scrutiny on her from the beginning, especially since she admitted to being under the influence the day Paul went missing. How does someone with that history only spend 80 days in jail for assault and battery? It makes me wonder about what evidence or witness testimonies are out there that could have linked her to Paul’s case before this pattern of behavior continued. Do y'all think there could be more to Susan's story that hasn't been uncovered yet? The whole situation feels like pieces are still missing.
I stumbled across some old articles about Paul Leonard Baker's case and was struck by how long this little boy has been missing. It's baffling to me that with the history of abuse and the later incident involving Shannon Dedrick, more progress hasn't been made in Paul's case. Susan Baker's background, including her criminal activities later on, seems like a glaring red flag that should have kept the investigation fires burning hotter.
What really baffles me is why the authorities couldn't connect more dots or apply more pressure back when they had the chance. It feels like there's a lot left unanswered, especially since Susan Baker emerged as the common name in two serious cases. Does anyone know if there's been any recent push from local law enforcement to re-evaluate the evidence or witness statements? It's hard not to wonder about other evidence that might have been overlooked at the time. I hope that those involved will someday find closure.
Hey everyone,
I've been reading about the Paul Leonard Baker case, and one thing that really baffles me is the timeline surrounding Susan Baker’s behavior. The fact that it took another abduction for there to be concrete evidence against her has me wondering: Could there have been more signs back in 1987 that were missed or ignored? Given what happened with Shannon Dedrick, it seems there's a worrying pattern here.
Also, why did it take so long for a harsher sentence in her past abuse charge? If she’d served more time, maybe it would have prevented Shannon’s case. I feel like this illustrates a breakdown somewhere in the system. How many times was Susan's story questioned by those who had the chance? There's clearly a need to revisit how these cases are handled—and not just for potential closure for Paul's family but for preventative measures in future cases.
Curious if anyone else has thoughts on the legal aspects or the investigative process back in the '80s. Maybe someone here has some insight into how these procedures have evolved—or not—over the years.
