Has anyone else been following the Hargrove case from Chilhowie? It's so unsettling to think about how a family can be so quickly shattered. I've been particularly struck by the role of mental health here. From the reports, it seems John Able was struggling with depression, and while this in no way excuses his actions, it does raise questions about how mental health resources might have been able to change the tragic outcome. It's sadly common for family members to feel blindsided in these situations, as Diane Link expressed her disbelief that her brother could be responsible for such heinous acts. It really makes me think about how important it is for us to check in on our loved ones and encourage open dialogue about mental health and seeking help. I hope they find some answers through Able's note. If nothing else, maybe it will offer some insight into his state of mind. It's just so devastating for everyone involved. My heart goes out to their family and the Chilhowie community dealing with such a profound, unexpected loss.
