Has anyone else looked into John Fowler's last known route? The idea that someone else might have seen him without realizing it could help gather more information. The trail near the Kern River is known to attract hikers, and it's a popular spot even now, so maybe someone remembers something from that day, even if it's a long shot. Also, has anyone checked out the local history archives or news articles from 1970? They might have reported on anyone doing hiking or outdoor activities around that area at the time that might have crossed paths with him. I know it's a stretch, but sometimes eyewitness memories can come up in unexpected ways.
