I’ve been reading about the tragic events at the Belt Atlantic Apartments, and my heart truly goes out to the families of Sharnez Hill and her baby, Neziah. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they’re going through. What really caught my attention today was the role the community is trying to play in all of this. After such a horrific incident, it’s vital that the voices of the residents in Richmond are heard. They deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. I’ve seen discussions on creating more community programs that tackle the root issues leading to violence, and I think that’s a positive step in the right direction. What has everyone else heard or seen on community initiatives since the tragedy? Are these programs actually reaching the people who need them most? I really hope they are, for the sake of everyone impacted by this senseless violence.
