Has anyone else been following the Annie May Rita Smith case? I've been thinking about the community response after this tragedy in Virginia Beach. It's really moving to see how locals have come together to support Annie's family. Not only were there vigils held in her honor, but there were also community-driven fundraisers to help cover the family's expenses. I feel like it shows how deeply this impacted people—not just those who knew her but many others as well. It really speaks to the kind of person Annie must have been, loved by so many. It's tragic that it takes something so terrible to remind us how important it is to support one another in times of need, but at least it shows there are still good hearts out there. If anyone has attended one of these events, I'd love to hear about it. Let's keep this conversation going and remember Annie for the life she lived rather than just how she died.

I'm still haunted by the surveillance footage that was shown during the trial. It makes me think about all those small moments that happen in our everyday life, and how quickly they can turn into something unimaginable. Annie and her family were going about their day just like any of us would, and in those fleeting seconds, everything changed. It's chilling to watch those final moments and realize how random acts of violence can irrevocably alter lives. I can't help but feel deeply for Steven and his family. The strength they must have to be sitting in that courtroom, having to relive it all, is beyond words. Annie seemed like such a sweet soul, and the way her life was taken is simply tragic. I hope the verdict brings them a semblance of peace in knowing justice was served, even if just a fraction of what they truly deserve. It's a reminder to cherish our loved ones and to hold them close.
