I’ve been reading up on the case of George Ramirez, and it’s just so devastating to think about the ripple effect his death has had on his family and friends. I can’t imagine what it was like for them to receive such horrific news. Clearing is a tight-knit community, and from what I gather, it must have been even more shocking because they’re not used to dealing with violence at such a close and personal level, despite the occasional incidents. I’m especially curious about what efforts were made by the community in the aftermath to support George's family and prevent further tragedies. There’s often talk of increased policing, but I wonder if there were any grassroots initiatives or community gatherings that aimed to address the underlying issues. It’s another sobering reminder of the struggles many communities face when it comes to dealing with violence.
