I'm curious if anyone here knows more about the weather conditions around Seguam Island on November 28, 1990, when Terrance "Sam" Batchelder and John Slagill went missing. I've read that the weather in the Aleutians can be pretty unpredictable, especially around that time of year. Could sudden changes have caught them by surprise? Were there any storm warnings that might've been ignored or not received? I wonder if other mariners had similar experiences in that area around that time. If anyone has insights or even personal anecdotes, I'd love to hear them. It might help piece together what could have happened.
Hi all,
I've been looking into the Terrance "Sam" Batchelder and John Slagill case, and I can't stop thinking about the conditions they must have faced that day. The North Pacific in November is notoriously unforgiving, with unpredictable weather and rough seas. It makes me wonder if a sudden storm could've caught them off guard. Did anyone else dig into any old weather records from that area around the time they disappeared? I'm curious to see if there was any unusual weather reported on 11/28/1990. Just trying to piece together what could have happened out there. If anyone has insights or has come across relevant info, please share. Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I was reading up on the disappearance of Terrance "Sam" Batchelder and John Slagill and something caught my eye. I’m curious if anyone has come across any historical weather data from the area around Seguam Island on 11/28/1990? From what I know, they were heading over in a skiff, which isn’t exactly the safest option if the weather took a turn. I can’t help but wonder if unexpected weather conditions played a role in them not making it back to the Red Jacket. I haven’t seen any info about searches conducted around that time either. Can anyone shed some light or share any sources where this might be available? Thanks!
