I've been reflecting on the incredible bravery shown by Alvin Milton Day Jr. during that terrible day in Camden. Can you imagine the kind of person who stops everything to lend a hand, not knowing what danger lurks? Alvin's decision to help James Hutton, despite the chaos around, speaks volumes about his character. It's deeply saddening to think that his life, a young veteran's with so much potential ahead, was cut short in such a senseless act of violence. Thinking about the trauma for Alvin's family and the larger community makes one realize how these events ripple through countless lives. The Cramer Hill neighborhood must have been deeply shaken, and it's important we don't forget the individual stories within such tragedies. Alvin's act of courage, even in his final moments, deserves to be honored and remembered. May his family find strength in knowing how valiantly he acted.
