Anyone else puzzled by the lack of debris found after the Barbarossa disappeared? I know the Bering Sea is notoriously unforgiving, but wouldn't you expect at least some wreckage or personal items to have been discovered after numerous searches? It's been over 30 years and still nothing. It makes me wonder about the currents in the area and how effectively they might carry wreckage away. I also read somewhere about technological advances in search and recovery - could something like that be applied retrospectively to a cold case like this? Always hoping for some closure for the families involved. Thoughts or insights are welcome!

There's something that's been gnawing at me about the Barbarossa case that I can't shake. With Dennis and the others missing since 1991, aren't there usually some form of debris that wash up eventually? The Bering Sea is vast and notorious, of course, but even with unpredictable weather, something should have turned up by now. The Coast Guard searches were comprehensive for the time, but could they have missed something? Also, with today's tech, would it be worthwhile to run a new sonar scan in that region, or is it still considered too dangerous? I’m sure there are experts here who might have insights into whether modern equipment could provide answers we didn’t have back then. Let’s keep discussing and maybe someone with the right resources might take interest!
