I recently came across an old article discussing the tragic loss of Maria Cruz and something really stuck with me. It’s so distressing to think about the vulnerability and trust Maria must have felt, simply seeking treatment for her scars. Many of us look to professionals for help with our insecurities, hoping to feel better about ourselves, and she deserved to be in safe and competent hands during such a vulnerable time. The level of betrayal is unimaginable. Dean Faiello not only deceived Maria but also caused indescribable pain to her loved ones. It’s a stark reminder that we have to be vigilant about verifying licenses and qualifications, even though the burden of responsibility shouldn’t fall on patients. My heart goes out to Maria’s family and friends who had to live through such a nightmare. Awareness and advocacy are crucial to prevent these tragedies from happening to others. Stay safe, everyone.
