Has anyone else been following the recent additions to NamUs? I noticed Sharmeen Smalls' case was added years after she went missing. What puzzles me is why it took so long for her case to be entered into the system. It's disconcerting to think about how many other cases might have slipped through the cracks because they weren't getting enough attention back then. Sharmeen was just 14, and a lot of these cold cases from that era still lack crucial details. It’s a reminder of how important it is to keep these stories in the public eye. There might still be someone out there with information that could help. What do you all think about the changes in how these cases are handled now compared to the early '90s?
Has anyone else looked into the timing of when Sharmeen Smalls' case got added to the NamUs database? It's puzzling that it took nearly thirty years for her to be included there. Was this a common delay back in the '90s, or does it suggest larger systemic issues with how cases like hers were handled historically? It makes me wonder if there were other similar cases that also fell through the cracks. Anyone with insights on how this process worked back then? Would love to discuss and better understand what might have contributed to this case being overlooked for so long.
