I’ve been following the case of Alejandro Chico and can’t help but feel a profound sense of loss for the community and, especially, his family. It's incredibly difficult to comprehend how the streets of Little Village became such a battleground. I was reading about the struggles his family faced in the aftermath—trying to not only mourn Alejandro but also to navigate a neighborhood where violence can take a loved one in an instant. What’s been bothering me is how hard it is for these families to find the closure they deserve when potential witnesses remain silent. I understand the fear and intimidation they may face from gangs, but it’s such a heartbreaking cycle. Alejandro's family has joined a community of those grieving for similar losses, and it really emphasizes the urgent need for change. I'm hoping that sharing these stories keeps them alive and honors Alejandro’s memory, shining a light on the persistent issues and, hopefully, prompting necessary changes. My heart goes out to his loved ones who continue to advocate for safety and remembering Alejandro amidst the chaos.
