Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the role of the community in Kassim Hayes' case. It's truly devastating to lose someone so young, and it's tough to imagine what his family and friends must be going through. In these situations, community support can be a tremendous pillar of strength, but it also highlights just how deeply rooted the problem of gun violence is in many areas.
One thing that caught my attention is the power of the prayer vigil held shortly after Kassim's death. It's encouraging to see people come together, but how can these gatherings spur real change? We need more than just moments of remembrance. What proactive steps can communities take to ensure this doesn't happen to another family? I feel like grassroots movements have the potential to be incredibly powerful, but are we doing enough? Are residents feeling heard by the local authorities when voicing concerns about safety measures?
Hoping to hear your thoughts on this. Maybe sharing ideas can help create a roadmap for preventing future tragedies.
Stay safe,

It's so frustrating and sad that the investigation into Kassim's death seems to have hit a wall. I read that Margaret Stewart, who lives nearby, heard the gunshots and also heard someone trying to get into her daughter's house right before it all happened. I can’t imagine how terrifying that must’ve been for her and her family. What I find puzzling is how no solid leads about the shooter have surfaced. It feels like someone must know something. With so many people affected by gun violence nowadays, it's important for anyone with information—no matter how small it might seem—to come forward and help bring justice for Kassim and peace to the community. Keeping Kassim’s friends and family in my thoughts as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time.
