I'm deeply touched reading about Deshawn Beeks and the loss his loved ones have endured. It's gut-wrenching to think about the community continuing to mourn without closure. Something that's been on my mind is the broader pattern of violence in Newark—I've read that there are numerous initiatives and community programs aimed at decreasing crime. However, it makes me wonder if there’s enough focus on preventative measures versus reactive ones. Are there local organizations working to provide youth mentorship or community support that could help address the root causes of these violent incidents? Supporting and expanding prevention efforts could potentially make a huge difference in the long term. My heart goes out to those affected by this ongoing tragedy.
