Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the impact that community resources (or the lack thereof) have in cases like Michael Jung's tragic death. It's really tough to think about how different things could be if more preventative measures and support systems were in place, particularly in areas of Chicago that are hardest hit by violence. I've been wondering about the role that local community centers and youth programs play in preventing crime. Do they actually help in keeping young people away from gangs and violent activity? It seems like a critical piece of the puzzle in addressing the underlying issues. It makes me so sad to think about the lives that could potentially be saved with more robust community engagement efforts. I’m no expert, but I feel like supporting these initiatives might be a step in the right direction. What do you all think? Can programs like these actually make a significant difference, or are they just a small part of what needs to be a much larger solution?
