Did anyone else catch the connection between the location of Princeton Reed's murder and the broader crime stats in Chicago around that time? I know exact addresses aren't shared because of privacy issues, but from what I've read, Reed's case got caught up in one of the many violent patches the city was experiencing, especially during 2008. It just feels so surreal and devastating to think such senseless violence happened on Christmas Eve, a day when people should be celebrating with their families and loved ones. The CLEAR system provides some data, but it seems like the lack of specific details, while understandable, makes it so hard for the community and researchers to really grasp what’s happening. It just makes you realize how much work is still needed to prevent tragedies like this. My thoughts are with Princeton’s family and friends during what must be an incredibly difficult time, even all these years later.
