Just came across this case and it's incredibly upsetting to read about such a tragic loss, especially when you think about how young Henry was. I've been wondering about the family's broader community and how they managed to cope with such an immense tragedy back in 1941. It's one thing to consider the immediate family's unbearable grief, but the ripples of such an event must have deeply affected friends, neighbors, and classmates too.
Does anyone know if there were any support systems in place at that time for those beyond the immediate family? It's hard to imagine how the community processed such a shocking event. Would love to hear any insights or historical contexts about how communities addressed trauma before the more modern structures of support we see today.
