I recently came across a little-discussed piece of evidence about John LeRoy's case that really struck me. It's troubling how some accounts suggest that there were multiple eyewitnesses who saw the police and National Guardsmen setting up the ambush. These witnesses seemed to have been pressured into silence or just outright ignored by investigators back then. How can we ignore eyewitness testimonies like that? It’s such a stark reminder of the lengths that were taken to cover up the reality of these violent events. It’s just so frustrating to realize how systemic these issues were, where the voices that could have made a difference were silenced. For John LeRoy’s family and friends, knowing that these voices weren't heard must add so much pain to their loss. We need continued discussions about these injustices so that the families of victims know that their loved ones haven’t been forgotten. Love and strength to his family.
