I've been reading about the Hazelwood massacre and something that's been nagging at me is the issue of witness silencing. The fact that Carl Carrington Mounts Jr., among others, might have been killed just to ensure no witnesses remained is deeply unsettling. Think about the fear and chaos in the room that night. It's chilling to consider that the intent was to eliminate any chance of identifying the perpetrators. What makes it even more tragic is how these individuals ended up as collateral damage in a brutal revenge plot. They were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught up in someone else's vendetta. I can't help but feel for the families and friends who have been left with no closure after all these years. It’s a constant reminder of how callous and unforgiving these criminal networks can be. I keep wondering—was there no one who might have witnessed something from the outside? Any small detail could have been significant. If the community had been able to rally together and share what they saw or heard, perhaps the case might be further along. I hope the victims are never forgotten and that there’s renewed interest in bringing their killers to justice.
