Wow, I can't imagine what Robert Shepp's family went through, losing someone so young and full of potential. I was reading about the trial proceedings, and it seems like the request for a change of venue might have been more warranted than initially thought. Given the media coverage, it's difficult to say how impartial the jury could have been, given the small community and the intense public interest in the case. Did anyone else see that the defense attempted to suppress the confession as well? It makes me wonder how much that factored into the initial appeal. Legal battles can be so drawn out and complex, especially when emotions are running high on both sides. I really hope that through all this, the families of the victims, including Robert’s, are able to find some measure of peace or closure. Does anyone have insights into how often venue changes are granted in similar cases? I’d love to hear what others think!
