Hey everyone, I’ve been following Rodney's case, and I stumbled upon some information that got me thinking. Apparently, another fishing vessel was nearby when Rodney went overboard. I've read a few fishermen in the area later claimed they heard a distress call over the radio, but there isn't much more information about it. Does anyone know if any follow-up was done with that crew or if it was logged? I can’t imagine not investigating every lead, especially when someone’s life may have depended on it. Would love to hear any other details or insights anyone might have.

Anyone else find it odd that Rodney wasn’t wearing a survival suit that day? I’m wondering if anyone knows what the typical protocol is for fishermen out there. Was it common to not suit up if the weather looked okay? The Bering Sea is so treacherous, and this just seems like such a huge risk. I’ve read a bit about the conditions out there, and the water alone can be deadly in minutes. Maybe someone with maritime experience could weigh in on how often safety gear might be skipped for comfort, or if there was any discussion beforehand about the conditions that day.
