Has anyone else been following the court proceedings around Harlan Drake? I'm finding it hard to wrap my head around his behavior during the trial. There's something deeply unsettling about how he testified and even made jokes about the murders he committed. It's hard to imagine what James Pouillon’s family must have felt hearing him speak like that. It’s almost as if he didn't grasp the gravity of what he had done. It makes me wonder about his mental state and whether the circumstances of his past and his depression truly impacted his actions. While justice has been served with Drake receiving two life sentences, it still feels like such a senseless tragedy for both Pouillon and Michael Fuoss, their families, and the community.

I've been following the Pouillon case, and one aspect that keeps haunting me is the impact on the Owosso High School community. I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for students and teachers to witness such a traumatic event right outside their school. It's deeply unsettling to think about the fear and confusion they must have felt seeing someone gunned down. Schools are meant to be safe places, and having this violence erupt literally at their doorstep must have had a lasting effect on everyone involved. Plus, considering it happened on September 11th, a day already heavy with national significance, makes it particularly poignant. I hope the school offered counseling and support to help everyone process what they experienced. My heart goes out to all the students, faculty, and families who had to face this unexpected tragedy on what should have been just another ordinary school day. If anyone from the area is on this forum and can share how the community has been coping since then, I'd really appreciate any insight. It's in times like these we realize just how interconnected we all are in our grief and healing.

Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about a different angle of the James Pouillon case. I've been thinking a lot about where this all took place. It's just so surreal to imagine this tragic event happening right outside a high school. I keep wondering how the students must have felt witnessing something like this, or hearing about it shortly after arriving at school. That’s an age where you're just trying to find your footing in the world, and then bam, something so jarring happens in your own community. I also keep coming back to the role of the community in Owosso during this time. It must have been so tough for everyone to process not just one, but two murders on the same day. For those who knew and cared about James Pouillon or Michael Fuoss, the grief must have been immense, mixed with confusion and fear. I hope they were able to find support and healing over the years. It's such a stark reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding where other people are coming from, even if we don't agree with them. My heart truly goes out to all the lives impacted by this tragic series of events.
