I’ve been thinking a lot about Michael Heisler lately, especially since my brother's getting ready for hunting season here. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that such a vibrant life, someone who was so active and beloved by his family and community, could be taken away so suddenly. I didn't know him personally, but from what I’ve read, it seems like he truly made an impact in St. Clair Township. The fact that this was the only fatal accident during that hunting season makes it all the more sobering. It’s a stark reminder of how fleeting life can be and how important it is to emphasize safety when handling firearms, no matter how experienced someone might be. My heart goes out to his family and friends. They lost someone who clearly brought a lot of joy and passion into the world. If anyone else is reflecting on this or remembers him, I'd love to hear stories or thoughts about how you're approaching this year's hunting season with safety in mind.
