I've been following the case of Bessie Saline Rodriguez, and my thoughts are with her family and everyone affected by this tragedy. The rear parking lot of McLaren Greater Lansing's orthopedic hospital isn't a place you'd expect something so horrific to occur. Hospitals are supposed to be places of healing and safety, and I can't imagine the shock this brought to staff and patients. The quick response in placing the hospital on lockdown likely prevented further chaos, but I wonder what kind of lasting impact this had on the community there. The safety and security measures in healthcare settings are so important, and it's incidents like these that make you realize how fragile that sense of security can be.
